The Need |
|
The people
of Southern Sudan have spent the last 21 years plagued with
war, instability, massive displacement and overwhelmed with
deadly, but often treatable diseases. In a country with a
population of an estimated 11 million, there is only one
trained doctor for every 100,000 people.
The John
Dau Sudan Foundation is passionate about transforming
healthcare in Southern Sudan. The first step was opening
the
Duk Lost Boys Clinic in May
2007. With JDSF acting as the primary financial benefactor
and overseer, it has provided care to more than 5,000
patients to date. |

The Campaign |
|
JDSF is
taking the next step in transforming healthcare in
Southern Sudan through the
1,000 Koiye Miooc Campaign.
By partnering with 1,000
koiye miooc
(“generous persons” in Dinka) like you, we will build onto
the early success of the Duk Lost Boys Clinic. Based on our
first year's experience, we know we need to generate
$300,000 a year to fund basic clinic services. The campaign
seeks 1,000 charter koiye
miooc who pledge $25
a month ($300 a year) to do this. Pledge your support to the
campaign and
encourage others
to do the same.

How It Works
Each month, your
koiye miooc
donation will be charged to the credit or debit card
account you indicate. And, of course, you may change
this information or cancel your recurring donation
at any time.
It's simple, secure and one of the
best ways that you can support the John Dau Sudan
Foundation. Plus, it's paperless!
|
 |
|
Many
donors choose to have their monthly gift charged to
a credit or debit card. This option is most
efficient for us, as it saves a stamp and prevents
the need for mailing reminders each month; most
efficient for you, as it eliminates the need to
write and send a check each month; and is most
efficient for the environment!
However, if you would prefer to make your gift via a
payment method other than credit card, please print
our
koiye miooc
mail-in form and
send it to us via postal mail. |

Why
Koiye Miooc?
Koiye Miooc
(koi-yee mewch)
means “generous persons” in Dinka.
"Americans are so generous, even with people they will never
meet,"
John
Dau said
Why JDSF?
- We have a smart,
collaborative approach to transforming healthcare in Southern
Sudan.
-
As someone with
direct ties to Sudan, John Dau knows first-hand the needs of the
country and helps JDSF develop culturally appropriate policies.
- We’ve provided
life-saving healthcare services to more than 5,000 Sudanese
patients to date in an area in Sudan where there are no other
medical facilities within 75 miles.
