After spending
more than two decades working in communications/public relations
for the Olympic and Special Olympics movements, Eileen Sexton
decided to pursue an earlier career and educational interest and
re-join the health care industry. She now oversees the
communications area at Mental Health America which comprises of
media relations, publications and Web site interactive.
Before joining
Mental Health America, Eileen was the Director of Communications
for the Food Allergy & Anaphylaxis Network. She served as Vice
President, Media & Public Affairs for the Special Olympics
Inc. Her media relations and promotional background also entails
working on a multitude of major sporting events: 2000 Super Bowl
and the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney for The Coca-Cola Company;
1999 Special Olympics World Games, Raleigh, Durham; 1998
Goodwill Games, Turner Sports and the 1996 Olympic Games.
Additionally,
her health care background also includes work with Surgery
Center Plus, an outpatient surgery center, and the American
College of Sports Medicine both headquartered in Indianapolis. A
graduate of Ball State University, Eileen earned a double major
in journalism and community health.
